When I was in middle school I joined an online animating forum called Maplemation. Here, other animators and I shared, collaborated, and even contested our work. We all had YouTube channels with the hopes of becoming famous in the future, but now those channels serve as a collection of memories and a record of how I spent my time as a teenager.
Winning Awards
In high school, my work caught the attention of my animation teacher and he encouraged me to submit my school projects into a few contests. I ended up winning a handful of awards throughout my junior and senior years and I even did a live TV interview for a local news station in Sacramento. I can’t find any videos of the interview online, but it’s probably for the best since I was really nervous and it’s a little embarrassing! I still had an awesome experience though and I’m really grateful for my teacher Mr. Clark for motivating me to put myself out there!
What about now?
I stopped animating after high school because I got kind of busy with college and work. When the quarantine started, I made some new videos on a different YouTube channel, but it was mostly just for fun.
After I transferred to CSU East Bay, I started focusing more on Graphic Design, but I’m still able to apply my animation experience to some of my work!
